FPSC Announces New Date for CSS 2027 MPT

The Federal Public Service Commission (FPSC) has revised the schedule for the MCQ-Based Preliminary Test (MPT) of CSS Competitive Examination 2027, giving candidates a new date for the screening examination.

According to the latest FPSC public notice, the CSS 2027 MPT will now be conducted on Saturday, October 10, 2026. The test was earlier scheduled for September 27, 2026. The commission said the change was made after the announcement of a protest on the original examination date.

The FPSC has clarified that only the examination date has been changed. All other terms, conditions and requirements for the CSS 2027 MPT will remain applicable.

The MPT is an important first step for candidates seeking to appear in the CSS Competitive Examination 2027. Under the FPSC rules, qualifying the MPT is mandatory before candidates can apply for the main written CSS examination.

For CSS 2027, candidates must generally hold at least a Bachelor’s degree with Second Division. The prescribed age range is 21 to 30 years, with a two-year relaxation available to candidates falling under the categories specified in the applicable rules. The relevant cutoff date for eligibility is December 31, 2026.

The FPSC had previously announced that the MPT would be conducted in 19 cities. Candidates were required to submit their online applications through the FPSC portal and pay the Rs. 250 MPT fee using the prescribed payment process.

Candidates should also remember that their selected examination centre cannot be changed after submission. FPSC has advised applicants to carefully check their CNIC, date of birth and other information entered in the application.

The revised MPT date also affects the timeline leading toward the main CSS examination. The FPSC’s advance schedule lists the CSS 2027 written examination from January 27, 2027, following the MPT and subsequent application process.

Aspirants should therefore use the additional preparation time wisely and regularly check the official FPSC website for admission certificates, examination instructions and any further updates. The commission itself advises candidates to frequently visit its website because official notices published there take priority.
