The proposal to keep schools closed for three days every week has sparked discussion about education, fuel consumption, and government expenses. Punjab Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat has opposed the idea, saying that closing schools on Fridays would not bring significant financial savings.
The minister also clarified that no formal proposal regarding a three-day school closure had been presented to him so far. He said that the education sector should be treated separately if the government introduces measures aimed at reducing fuel consumption or controlling expenses.

The minister said around 90% of government school students walk to school. He also stated that a similar situation exists in private schools, where many students also travel on foot.
