The Punjab Higher Education Department has issued an official notification approving the revised contract period and extension of services for 3,915 College Teaching Interns (CTIs) working in associate colleges across the province.
The decision provides relief to thousands of CTIs as the Provincial Cabinet has granted approval to revise the timeline of the CTI program and extend their contracts for an additional period.
According to the notification, the implementation period of the CTI program has been revised from the previous schedule. The updated contract duration will allow interns to continue their teaching responsibilities in government colleges under the approved terms.
The Cabinet has also approved a one-month extension for existing College Teaching Interns, ensuring that their services remain available during the extended period. All other conditions and requirements mentioned in the earlier departmental circular will remain unchanged.

The Higher Education Department stated that the revised decision applies to CTIs serving in public sector associate colleges throughout Punjab. The department has directed relevant officials, including Directors of Public Instructions (Colleges), Directors of Education (Colleges), and the Director IT, to ensure the implementation of the approved changes.
The CTI program was introduced to support government colleges by providing teaching opportunities to qualified graduates while addressing faculty shortages. Through this initiative, thousands of young educators gain professional experience while helping colleges maintain academic activities.
The latest extension is expected to benefit CTIs who were awaiting clarity regarding their contract continuation. The decision will also help colleges manage teaching requirements and ensure students continue receiving uninterrupted academic support.
Officials have advised concerned departments and CTIs to follow the updated guidelines issued by the Punjab Higher Education Department regarding the revised contract period and other service conditions.
The government’s decision reflects its ongoing efforts to strengthen the higher education sector and provide temporary employment opportunities for qualified individuals across Punjab.
